At Stillwaters Psychology, our psychological assessments provide a comprehensive understanding of an individual’s unique needs and challenges. Our assessments combine insights gained from consultations, observations, and various testing methods, alongside contextual data, such as attainment levels provided by schools and parental perspectives on their child’s development and needs. A critical part of our approach is an in-depth analysis of the context in which the child or adult is operating to ensure a holistic view of their psychological profile.
In line with good practice guidelines established by the British Psychological Society, our assessments are grounded in a holistic and interactionist perspective. This means we consider not only the individual's specific symptoms or behaviours but also how they interact with their environment, including social, educational, and family contexts. This approach helps us identify the root causes of the challenges faced and develop a clearer picture of the support required.
Currently, there is a statutory requirement for the provision of Psychological Advice as part of the Education and Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process. Our team at Stillwaters Psychology is well-versed in preparing these essential assessments to support applications for EHCP's.
Our range of assessments covers a wide spectrum of psychological factors, including emotional and social functioning, language impairments, learning difficulties, and mental health conditions. We are equipped to assess:
• Individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who may have additional complexities such as challenging behaviours or mental health factors.
• Those with, or requiring a diagnosis of, Dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties.
• Individuals with complex emotional and behavioural needs, including those with attachment or trauma-related concerns, or who exhibit self-harm or self-injurious behaviours.
• Those with dual diagnoses, such as visual impairments or Down Syndrome coupled with Autism.
Based on our findings, we produce detailed reports outlining the individual's needs, strengths, and challenges. These reports provide actionable insights and recommendations for next steps, including suggested interventions or adjustments to care plans. Our reports can also be tailored for specific purposes, such as supporting Education Health and Care Plans (EHCP's) or Special Educational Needs Tribunals.
